Cabinet Led by Mitsotakis to Consider Energy, Economy, and Culture Reforms

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will preside over a cabinet meeting at the Maximos Mansion in Athens on Friday at 10:00 a.m., where ministers are scheduled to present a wide range of new legislative initiatives covering education, economic development, energy, culture, and sustainable fisheries.

According to the Prime Minister’s press office, the agenda includes draft laws and policy proposals designed both to address pressing reforms and to advance Greece’s long-term strategic objectives.

Education and academic reforms

Minister of Education, Religion and Sports Sofia Zacharaki will outline preparations for the upcoming school and academic year, placing emphasis on reforms and innovations to modernize the education system.

Economy and investment

Development Minister Takis Theodorikakos will present measures to regulate economic activity, accelerate strategic investments, strengthen industrial growth, and promote social entrepreneurship.

Urban planning and energy policy

Environment and Energy Minister Stavros Papastavrou will introduce a new Spatial Planning and Urban Development Code, aimed at modernizing Greece’s planning and zoning framework.

European engagement

Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis is expected to propose the establishment of an office for Greece’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union, with the goal of enhancing Athens’ role and influence within EU institutions.

Transparency in political advertising

Interior Minister Thodoris Livanios will present a bill to implement Regulation 2024/900, which focuses on improving transparency and accountability in political advertising.

Cultural heritage protection

Culture Minister Lina Mendoni will bring forward legislation targeting art forgery, the protection of collectibles, and the safeguarding of Greece’s cultural treasures.

Sustainable fisheries and regional media

Agriculture Minister Kostas Tsiaras will unveil measures to promote sustainable fisheries, while Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister Pavlos Marinakis will table legislation regulating the licensing of regional television broadcasters.
