Greek police have made a major breakthrough in the investigation into the murder of prominent criminal lawyer Stavros Georgiou, arresting a 28-year-old Egyptian national believed to be directly involved in the fatal attack.
According to investigators, officers from the Hellenic Police Homicide Division identified the suspect after analyzing CCTV footage, mobile phone data, and witness statements collected during the investigation. The combined evidence allowed authorities to reconstruct the suspect's movements before and after the crime, ultimately leading to his arrest.

Investigators examined surveillance footage from the area surrounding the victim's law office in central Athens while also analyzing telecommunications data and other forensic evidence.
Authorities say the suspect's presence near the crime scene during the critical timeframe became one of the key elements that helped solve the case.

Stavros Georgiou was found dead inside his office in downtown Athens. The preliminary forensic examination indicated that he had not been shot or stabbed, but had suffered multiple severe blows to the head, which proved fatal.
