A debate on the interior ministry's draft legislation on "A new system of selecting the administrations of public-sector bodies, enhancing their efficiency and other measures," is to begin before the Parliament plenum on Wednesday. Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the opposition party parliamentary group presidents will address parliament during the debate, with a vote due to be held on Thursday.

In the readings of the bill in the Parliamentary Standing Committee for Public Administration, Public Order and Justice it was passed with the support of ruling New Democracy and opposed by main opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance, the Communist Party of Greece and Nike, while the other parties have temporarily withheld judgement.

Interior Minister Niki Kerameus has indicated that she will include additions and amendments, incorporating many proposals by MPs that can be adopted. Also attached to the draft bill are a ministerial amendment on compensation to farms that sustained damage in the extreme weather during September and various other measures.
