A major Coast Guard operation was underway on Wednesday about 40 nautical miles west of Pylos to rescue approximately 90 undocumented foreign nationals on a yacht.
The vessel was located by a Frontex aircraft.
A total of 25 individuals were collected by a tanker sailing nearby while another six were collected by another yacht and were transferred to Pylos port.
A woman was taken to Kalamata hospital while the remaining undocumented migrants are expected to be transferred to a freighter. All of the yacht's passengers will be taken to Kalamata port.
Two vessel sailing nearby, along with a Coast Guard rescue vessel, are already at the site, while a Coast Guard open seas vessel is expected to arrive soon.
