A new warning against Ukraine was sent by Vladimir Putin emphasizing that “if Kyiv does not wish to resolve the issue peacefully, Russia will achieve all its goals through the use of force“. According to the Russian news agency TASS, Putin noted that he observes that Kyiv “is not in a hurry” to end the war through peaceful means. At the same time, Volodymyr Zelensky is expected to meet with Donald Trump in Florida, expressing his optimism that a compromise can be reached that will lead to a peaceful framework for ending the war.
Zelensky: If the whole world, Europe and the US stand with us together we will stop Putin
Earlier, Volodymyr Zelensky with a series of posts called on the US and Europe to decisively support Ukraine. The Ukrainian president emphasized that his country’s strength depends directly on the support of the international community, particularly Europe and the United States.
The framework being developed jointly with the American government embraces critical aspects of a comprehensive agreement for investment and long-term development. At the center of the plan are high-priority national goals: increasing citizens’ life expectancy, the return of refugees to their homes, significant growth in per capita GDP, the creation of thousands of new jobs and strong security guarantees. In parallel, the plan focuses on access to international markets and accelerating Ukraine’s path to European Union membership. Particular emphasis is placed on strategies that ensure the maintenance of macroeconomic stability on a long-term basis.
Volodymyr Zelensky estimates that the total cost of reconstruction will range between 700 and 800 billion euros. According to him, common understanding has been achieved with Washington for the creation of a series of financing mechanisms that will support this enormous effort. The proposed tools include the Ukraine Reconstruction Fund, a state investment platform, a Development Fund and a Fund for Development and Opportunities. Additionally, negotiations are underway for the establishment of a Human Capital Fund that will support the return of citizens to their country.
In his next post, Zelensky emphatically reiterates that Ukraine did not start the conflict, making clear that Russia bears sole responsibility. He emphasizes that Kyiv supported Donald Trump’s proposal for a ceasefire and has accepted a series of compromises, which are reflected both in the draft agreements and in Ukraine’s 20-page plan. “Ukraineis ready to do whatever is required to stop this war“, the president declares categorically. For Kyiv, the absolute priority remains ending hostilities and achieving sustainable peace. To have a strong negotiating position, Ukraine needs the unwavering support of the international community, especially Europe and the United States. Volodymyr Zelensky notes that Ukrainian air defenses remain insufficient, as well as military equipment and funding, despite recent European decisions. Particular emphasis is placed on the need to strengthen weapons production and, primarily, unmanned aircraft (drones). Referring to Moscow’s stance, the president argues that while Ukraine seeks peace, Russia shows intention to continue the war.
As Zelensky emphasizes, if Europe and the United States stand united alongside Kyiv, “together we will stop Vladimir Putin“. Conversely, he warns that any support for Russia will prolong the conflict, with risks affecting the entire planet. According to the Ukrainian president, Russia will not stop at Ukrainian borders, regardless of any agreements or declarations that may be signed. This warning underscores the importance of continued international support.
Special mention is made of the security issue in view of electoral processes or a possible referendum. Volodymyr Zelensky emphasizes that the country’s airspace must be completely safe and protection must be ensured throughout the territory, with the presence of international observers everywhere. He even reveals that according to information from Ukraine’s Foreign Intelligence Service, Russia has already set as a goal to facilitate the participation in voting of Ukrainians who are in Russia or in temporarily occupied territories, in order to later challenge the legitimacy of the elections.
Kyiv’s red lines and the role of the Ukrainian people
The Ukrainian president notes that there are “red lines” for Ukraine and its people, while acknowledging the existence of compromise proposals on extremely sensitive issues, such as territorial matters and the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant. In any case, Zelensky emphasizes that before any critical decision there will be full information for citizens, as the final word belongs to the Ukrainian people, either through a referendum or through legislative changes that will be democratically approved.
The “regulator” Trump and the pivotal meeting with Zelensky
On Sunday, a new meeting between Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House is expected. The Ukrainian president mentioned that his goal is “to improve things as much as possible”, adding that the proposed 20-point peace plan is 90% ready. As he stated, the Ukrainian and American negotiating teams have made significant progress, although he admitted that if a “strong” agreement is not secured, the approval of the Ukrainian people may be needed.
For his part, Trump appeared cautious, stating in an interview that he expects a “good” meeting, without however committing to supporting the plan. “There is nothing until I approve it,” he characteristically said. On the other hand, Moscow, through Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov, openly criticized Zelensky and European allies, arguing that the current proposal differs radically from the points that had been discussed previously between the US and Russia. As he stated, without resolving the “deeper causes” of the crisis, a definitive agreement remains difficult.
