Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will welcome Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides at the Maximos Mansion on Saturday for high-level talks focusing primarily on the Cyprus issue and the latest regional developments.
The meeting comes at a particularly significant time, as diplomatic efforts to revive negotiations on the Cyprus problem continue and geopolitical developments in the Eastern Mediterranean remain high on the agenda of both Athens and Nicosia.
Cyprus Issue at the Center of Discussions
According to government sources, the two leaders are expected to reaffirm the shared positions of Greece and the Republic of Cyprus regarding the Cyprus issue, ahead of upcoming international diplomatic initiatives.
Athens and Nicosia continue to support the resumption of negotiations within the framework of United Nations Security Council resolutions, aiming for a comprehensive settlement based on a bizonal, bicommunal federation with political equality, in line with international and European law.
Regional Security and Bilateral Coordination
Beyond Cyprus, Mitsotakis and Christodoulides are expected to exchange views on regional security, developments in the Eastern Mediterranean, EU–Turkey relations, and the broader geopolitical environment.
The meeting also reflects the close strategic coordination between Greece and Cyprus on issues of foreign policy, energy cooperation, regional connectivity, and European affairs.
